TeamSustain has developed a unique solution for integrated storage of all site equipment called as GeEMS, which stands for Green energy and Energy Management System. The concept of GeEMS includes “all in one energy source and indicator”, i.e. it integrates and manages different energy sources – solar, wind, grid, fuel cell, battery bank, DG and prioritize energy source based on user preference.

Main features of GeEMS are

  • Rectifier modules of high capacity

GeEMS was invented with the focus of developing a single entity to house the components in the site at a common location so that the system is compact and easy maintenance is possible. The system consists of rectifier modules, charge controllers, sensors and indicators.

The rectifier modules have energy saving functionality and wide AC input range. Maximum power of the module is 4050 W and the operating voltage ranges between 42-58 V with a maximum current of 83.3 A. It has a maximum efficiency of 95.2%. Outback Charge controllers having more than 95% peak efficiency, can increase the PV array output by up to 30%.

Main Components in GeEMS

Different components in the GeEMS are as follows:

HPS Control Card

The healthy phase selector card senses the availability of voltage, current, power and energy, output of which is a signal given to the controller.

Controller

It is the heart of the system and controls all the components for achieving optimized performance. It consists of multiple input and output ports and measures the AC mains voltage. Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) manages the passive components at telecom site which includes charging and discharging of battery, AC and DC distribution.

LED driver

Charge controller display is controlled using the LED driver. It consists of two digital inputs and up to 9 IOM LEDs can be connected to the IMBUS. IOM string is used to measure current and monitors the fuses in battery and load strings.

Anti-Theft System

Security is provided for GeEMS with number lock. Provision for password reset and recovery is provided and its control is done by the main operating centre. It is not shared with the engineer, who will have access only to the passwords and not to the technical details.

Alarm Board

The board is supplied from the 48V system bus and consists of 10 relay outputs.

Auto Mains Failure (AMF) Logic

AMF logic selects the source of power from utility and AC diesel generator, in the absence of solar energy. The Gen Card senses generator operation including the availability of fuel and capacity. HPS measures the AC mains voltage. If the utility power is absent and the necessary power can be provided by the DG, the AMF switches to the DG thereby connecting the DG to the load. When the utility power is restored, the AMF switches from the DG to the mains supply.

Smoke Detector

The system is also provided with a smoke detector.

Rectifier Modules

The system consists of eight slots for rectifier modules. It is of plug-in type, thereby making it easier to assemble.
